How often should you wash your hair? Every other day? Every day? Once a week? Every two weeks? This is a question we have all asked ourselves at one time or another as we struggle to achieve the best possible style while maintaining a healthy head of hair.
Failing to wash hair in a timely manner can leave it looking horrifically greasy and unkempt yet if we dare to wash our hair too frequently, there is a risk that we will strip our hair, endangering the quality of our hair structure and/or texture.

Those with straighter hair textures (that is undamaged) tend to have hair that is moisture-rich and hair that produces a fair amount of oil on a regular basis.
In addition to those with straight or fine hair, experts agree that if you reside in a region that is excessively humid, have an excessively oily scalp or you are one who sweats a lot due to your impressive fitness regimen, you may need to wash your hair more frequently.
Who Should Wash Their Hair Less Frequently?
Those individuals with thick, curly or coarse hair textures have a bit more leniency in the frequency in which they are able to wash their hair. Stylists agree that these individuals may wash their hair once to twice per week. The reason for this degree of flexibility in their hair washing schedule has to do with the degree of moisture that exists –or does not exist with a curlier texture or pattern.
This hair type tends to be drier than straighter hair, thus making it less than ideal to wash this hair on a frequent basis. Therefore, if you have hair that is of a curlier texture, you should try to adhere to a schedule one to two times per week using a shampoo and/or conditioner that is specifically made for curly hair textures to bestow moisture.
These are just a few guidelines to keep in mind when looking to determine the frequency in which you should wash your hair. When in doubt, let your scalp make the decision for you. If it is oily, it may be time to break out the shampoo and conditioner.
