Andrea Torre

Andrea Torre is a licensed cosmetologist and colorist who has spent nearly four decades behind the chair, first licensed in Connecticut in 1988 and later in Florida. Her specialty is the chemistry end of the craft: bleach and developer, toner, corrective and box-dye color, dye removal, gray coverage, perms, and keratin services.

Since 2001 she has run her own studio, Andrea Torre Designs / Hair Replacement Concepts in New Haven County, and since 2014 she has served as a cosmetic oncology specialist and cranial prosthetic fitter at Yale New Haven Health's Smilow Cancer Hospital, where she facilitates the Beyond Beauty program. A certified hair replacement specialist, she has taught the trade as well as practiced it.

At HairstyleCamp she reviews the site's highest-risk chemical articles, holding them to the rule she works by: know what the chemistry does before it touches a head.

Her work at Smilow was profiled by Bridgeport Hospital's Healthy & Wise in "Smilow Program Is All About Beauty – Inside and Out", which follows her Beyond Beauty workshops for patients in treatment. "Self-care is an important part of our daily lives and helps to promote wellness," she told the magazine.
