Different Types of Bangs Styles

Bangs (which are also known as a fringe in some English-speaking countries) is a haircut that has remained popular for decades.

However, just because bangs have been around for a long time, this does not mean that they are dated look. In fact, there are so many different types of bangs and different ways to wear your hair if you have bangs that you can keep changing your hair to make sure that you stay relevant.

A new bangs trend hits the scene every year, and people go crazy over the bangs style.

Choosing the Right Types of Bangs

If you are thinking about having bangs cut into your hair, you should consider how thick your hair is and what shape your face is.

Look at pictures of the types of bangs that you like and don’t like, and then speak to your stylist about this. They will be able to advise you about which types of bangs could work well for you.

1. Blunt Bangs

Blunt Bangs - type of bangs style

Blunt bangs are the bangs that are cut straight across your forehead. Most blunt bangs will stop at or around eyebrow length, although some people like to keep them a little bit longer than this for a more severe look.

Blunt bangs are great for drawing attention to your eyes and framing your face. If you have thinner hair you may have wispier blunt bangs, which look a little softer. If you have thicker hair and do not want to look to seem too severe, then you may be able to get your stylist to thin your hair out a little bit. Curling the bottom of your blunt bangs under slightly can also soften your look and create a beautiful retro style.

2. Choppy Bangs

choppy bangs

Choppy bangs are a really edgy style that looks brilliant with thicker hair. These bangs normally cover the forehead, but they are not cut as straight as blunt bangs are.

The choppy cuts take away some of the heaviness and severity that blunt bangs offer, however they draw attention to the eyes in the same way that blunt cuts do. If you have thicker hair, a choppy cut can be used to thin your hair out, without losing full coverage of your forehead. This can reduce the heaviness of your hair.

3. Pixie Cut with Bangs

These are very short bangs which only cover the very top of your forehead. They look best on people with an oval face shape and are stunning when teamed up with a cropped hairstyle.

Pixie bangs can also look good on people with longer hair who keep their hair up most of the time. They help to open up the face and can make it look lighter and brighter.

4. Parted Bangs

another type of bangs: parted bangs

Parted bangs are the name given to a style in which the hair is parted. The parting can either be down the center of the bangs or it can be off to one side instead.

If your hair is getting a bit longer, you may want to part your bangs so that you can keep the hair out of your eyes. Depending on the length of your bangs, you might need to use a clip to secure your bangs in place. Parted bangs can be worn with your hair up or with your hair down.

5. Side-swept Bangs

Side-swept Bangs

Side-swept bangs come from one side of your head and cross your forehead on a diagonal. They help to give your hairstyle an asymmetrical look which is very fashionable. People who have a perfectly symmetrical face shape may want to consider side-swept bangs because it’ll give them an unusual edge.

There are actually a few different ways to wear your hair if you want to try side swept bangs. Some people style their hair so that it thickly covers their forehead, but also covers one of their eyes. This style of side-swept bang is a very popular choice in the emo sub-culture. There are also many women who go for a more subtle side-sweep.

Side-swept bangs are probably the most common type of bangs. Side-sweeps look great with most hair types – thick hair and thin hair, wavy hair and straight hair, dyed hair and natural shades.

6. Asymmetrical Bangs

These bangs are slightly different to a sweeping fringe because of the way that your hair falls. In a sweeping fringe, your hair will normally come from one side and finish at the other.

However, with asymmetrical bangs, your hair normally comes from the top of your head and is cut so that the hair finishes asymmetrically. This style is perfect for funky, attention-grabbing hairstyles. It is also a very high fashion idea.

7. Ached Bangs

Arches bangs are similar to blunt bangs, except rather than the cut being straight across the forehead, it is arch-shaped and follows the curve of the face.

These bangs look better with thicker hair because they help the arch to stand out more. The arch will frame your face and can help to make your face look beautifully soft. Arched bangs are a perfect hairstyle to choose if you have a square face because they can actually help your face look rounder.

8. Dyed Bangs
